Ceres
Ceres is a science fiction board game for 1–4 players in which you take on the role of the leader of a mining corporation on the dwarf planet Ceres in the near future. The game places you in the year 2219, when Earth has long lost its primacy, and Mars has been colonized for over a century, serving as the center of human society. Ceres is the last outpost before the outer Solar System and is home to an industrial complex for extracting asteroid resources.
In Ceres, you compete as the head of an asteroid mining corporation. Your tasks include resource exploitation, colony expansion, researching new technologies, and trading with other corporations. All of this takes place in an environment where competition is fierce, and the goals are profit, power, and influence in the space industry. The game was developed in collaboration with an astrophysicist, so the theme is very convincing and scientifically grounded.
The core mechanic is worker placement, where you choose between various actions—sending mining probes into the asteroid belt, trading resources, constructing and upgrading facilities, researching new technologies, and cooperating with the Martian administration. The game lasts three rounds, representing three business years on Ceres. Each year is full of strategic decisions and business cycles. You can expand and upgrade your colony, which brings new opportunities and bonuses. Every decision affects your position compared to other players—who will become the most powerful corporation on Ceres?
If you want a deep strategic experience in space, where you lead your corporation to fame and fortune, Ceres is the right game for you!🪐
