Amritsar: The Golden Temple

Amritsar: The Golden Temple is a medium‑weight eurogame that blends several popular mechanics and offers a rich historical theme.

The game is set in the 19th century, during the time when Maharaja Ranjit Singh began the restoration of the Golden Temple in Amritsar, the holiest site of the Sikh faith. Players take on the roles of historical figures who contributed to this restoration. Their goal is to help develop the temple and the surrounding city while gaining as much prestige as possible.

You place workers in a circular pattern, similar to the classic mancala mechanism. The last worker you place determines which action you’ll perform.
Your elephant (yes, you have your own!) moves around the circular action wheel, influencing your available choices.
By placing cubes in different city districts, you compete for dominance in those areas.
You complete contracts that provide points and bonuses. You gather and spend resources, upgrade your player board, and pay taxes (a mechanic similar to “feed your workers”).

It’s a great fit for players who enjoy strategic games with a moderate level of depth, without becoming overly complex. 🕌✨
