Azure is an abstract two-player strategy game inspired by Asian mythology and the ancient energy pathways known as Lung Mei. Players seek to invoke the power of four auspicious mythical creatures—the Azure Dragon of the East, the Vermilion Bird of the South, the White Tiger of the West, and the Black Tortoise of the North—and channel their energy in a quest for wisdom and victory.
Throughout the game, players place their stones on the board to collect qi (energy cards) and wisdom points. Placing a stone requires spending the appropriate amount of qi, making effective card management a crucial part of the strategy. In addition to scoring points, players compete for the favor of the four mythical beasts, which grant special benefits and create additional tactical opportunities.
Area control and hand management play important roles, as careful stone placement can reduce the cost of future actions while simultaneously limiting an opponent’s options. The objective is to be the first player to reach the end of the path of wisdom and claim victory.
