Catan: On the Road takes you to the familiar island of Catan, but in a compact, travel-friendly format. The game stays true to the world of Catan: exploring, gathering resources, expanding settlements, and trading – only that everything is done exclusively with cards, without a game board. Thematically, it is a fast, easily portable version of the classic “building, trading, and development” experience on the island of Catan.
Instead of rolling dice, resources are gained by drawing cards from the deck. Players build settlements, roads, upgrades, and recruit knights from a prepared shared pool of options. Trading is an even more important element than in the classic game. Players can trade with each other or with the bank. Anyone who trades during an opponent’s turn receives a bonus resource, which adds dynamics and encourages cooperation.
The entire game is played with 120 cards, eliminating the need for space or board setup.
The goal of the game – be the first to reach 7 victory points.
