Barbarian Invasion
New in this edition. Barbarians are invading Catan, and players must try to stop them using new knight pieces.
Traders & Barbarians
New in this edition. New hexes are added, including a castle, a glassworks, and a marble quarry. Players attempt to rebuild Catan after the invasion. Completing tasks at the castle earns gold and victory points, but doing so requires traveling back and forth along roads and undeveloped paths. Some barbarians are still roaming the island and disrupting trade routes.
The expansion also includes 4 minor rule variants:
2-Player Rules
New Commercial Chips are used to force trade with your opponent. Neutral third and fourth players are used to block your opponent.
Catan Event Cards
The Harbormaster Card
Awards two additional victory points to the player with the most harbor points.
Friendly Robber Rules
A special robber variant that reduces the robber's negative impact on players who are behind in the game
