CO₂: Second Chance is a deeply strategic game that deals with the environmental crisis, global warming, and the transition to clean energy sources.
Players take on the roles of directors of energy companies whose task is to stop the rise of CO₂ emissions while still meeting the world’s growing energy demands.

The game uses several interwoven systems characteristic of designer Vital Lacerda.
Each round, a player performs one main action (proposing a project, preparing infrastructure, building a power plant) and an unlimited number of executive actions (moving a scientist, trading emission permits, using cards, completing objectives).
CEP permits are bought and sold on the market, and their price changes according to demand. Gaining control over CEPs provides an important strategic advantage.
You earn points by building green power plants, conducting research, fulfilling private and global objectives, and managing resources. In the cooperative mode, points are also tied to reducing the global ppm CO₂ track.

Different modes of play are available:

• solo mode,
• competitive / semi‑cooperative mode.
