Conservas is a beautiful solo board game that combines the theme of fishing and seafood canning with bag-building and resource management mechanics.
In the game, you run a fishing and canning operation along the coast of Spain. Each month (12 in total) represents a new season with its own unique goals, rules, and difficulty levels. As a player, you must fish wisely, preserve your catch, manage your fleet of boats, and ensure sustainable fishing—overexploiting the sea will lead to problems in future rounds.
It is a solo bag-building game. Each boat allows you to draw 5 tokens at random from your bag (fish, water, etc.). You must then distribute these tokens between your boats and the open sea. Fish can be canned and sold for money, which you use to purchase new boats or upgrades. Upgrades provide better opportunities in future rounds (such as greater control over tokens or higher profits). Fish left in the open sea will reproduce, affecting future rounds—this is the key element of sustainability in the game. Each season also features a specific objective you must achieve, such as maintaining a certain number of fish in the sea, earning a target amount of money, or acquiring a set number of upgrades.
If you enjoy calm, thoughtful gameplay, nature-themed settings, and strategic decision-making, Conservas is an excellent choice for your solo evenings. 🐚🐟
