Deep Rock Galactic is a cooperative board game for 1–4 players based on the popular video game of the same name. Players take on the roles of space dwarf miners who venture into the dangerous underground caves of the planet Hoxxes IV, where they mine valuable minerals and battle hordes of alien creatures known as Glyphids.
The theme combines science fiction, cave exploration, mining, and action-packed combat. Each player controls one of four specialized dwarves:
- Gunner – a specialist in heavy weaponry
- Scout – a fast explorer equipped with a grappling hook
- Engineer – a master of gadgets and defensive structures
- Driller – an expert at tunneling through rock
During missions, the team discovers new cave sections, gathers resources, completes objectives, and fights through ever-growing swarms of enemies.
The game is fully cooperative, meaning all players win or lose together.
Exploration of a modular underground map allows caves to be revealed gradually throughout the game. Dice-based combat and actions create exciting and unpredictable situations. Resource management, including ammunition, health, and mined minerals, is essential for mission success. The game also features asymmetric character abilities, giving each class its own unique equipment and strengths.
Missions with different objectives encourage varied gameplay, teamwork, and strategic planning.
