Dungeons & Dragons: Tomb of Annihilation is one of the most well-known campaigns (adventure modules) for the 5th edition of D&D. It is an extensive story that takes players from level 1 to approximately level 11 and combines exploration, survival, puzzles, and a deadly dungeon.
The main story revolves around the so-called Deathcurse—a mysterious affliction that slowly kills anyone who has ever been resurrected, while also preventing any further resurrection. Players are sent to the jungle land of Chult, filled with ruins, dinosaurs, undead creatures, and mysterious cultures. The goal is to find the artifact known as the Soulmonger, which causes the curse, and destroy it. The adventure draws inspiration from Indiana Jones–style stories: lost cities, traps, and ancient secrets.
The board game features a modular board made up of 40 interlocking tiles that create a unique play area in each session. Players choose from a variety of heroes, each with their own unique abilities. As they gain experience, they can upgrade their heroes and acquire new skills. It includes special decks of trap and spell cards that add complexity to the game.
The game contains multiple scenarios, challenging quests, and supports solo play or cooperative play for 2–5 players. It is compatible with Temple of Elemental Evil, The Legend of Drizzt, Castle Ravenloft, and Wrath of Ashardalon.
