Dutch Blitz is a fast-paced and highly entertaining real-time card game that originated within the Pennsylvania Dutch community. Players race to play their cards in the correct sequence and be the first to get rid of their crucial stack—the Blitz Pile. There are no turns in Dutch Blitz; everyone plays simultaneously, creating a delightfully chaotic and exciting atmosphere.
The game is designed for 2–4 players. Each player has their own deck of 40 cards, featuring four colors (red, blue, yellow, and green) and numbers from 1 to 10.
Cards are organized into four different areas:
- Blitz Pile (10 cards) – your main objective is to play all of these cards as quickly as possible.
- Post Piles (3 face-up cards) – cards are arranged in descending order with alternating boy and girl illustrations.
- Wood Pile – cards are revealed from your hand in sets of three.
- Dutch Piles – shared piles in the center of the table where all players build ascending sequences of the same color.
Players play simultaneously, placing cards onto the Dutch Piles whenever they have the correct color and number. As soon as a player successfully plays all the cards from their Blitz Pile, they shout “Blitz!” and immediately end the round.
Scoring is simple:
- +1 point for each card played onto the Dutch Piles
- −2 points for each card remaining in your Blitz Pile
The game is played over multiple rounds until a player reaches 75 points.
Dutch Blitz is the perfect choice for anyone looking for a fast, frantic, and hilarious card game where quick reflexes, sharp observation skills, and dexterity are the keys to victory. ⚡🎴😄
