DVONN is an abstract strategy game.
The three red DVONN stones represent a source of energy that all other pieces must stay connected to – when the connection is lost, the stack is removed from the game. This creates a sense of fragile balance, as if players are fighting for survival in a world that is constantly shrinking.
DVONN has two key phases:
1. Placement Phase
Players first take turns placing the three red DVONN stones, and then place their white and black tokens on the empty spaces.
By the end of this phase, the board is completely filled.
2. Movement and Stacking Phase
Players move stacks, with the height of the stack determining the length of the move.
A move must always end on top of another piece or stack.
Stacks that lose their connection to the DVONN stones are removed.
The game ends when no more moves are possible; the player who controls more pieces/stacks wins.
