EXIT: The Game – Adventures on Catan is a unique combination of escape room gameplay and the world of Catan, blending tense puzzle-solving with the familiar thematic setting of the island of Catan. The game was designed by Inka and Markus Brand and published by Kosmos to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Catan.

In the game, you take on the role of a new settler who leaves behind a difficult life in the village and sets out for the fertile and mysterious island of Catan. There, you’ll face challenges, trade with locals, gather resources, and build a new life. The story unfolds through puzzles that reveal narrative elements of the Catan universe, including familiar resources and helpers.

The game is cooperative. Players solve puzzles using cards, booklets, instructions, and even the game box itself. Each puzzle has a symbol that leads to a three-digit code, which players enter into a decoder disk to check their answer. Players build a map of Catan using foldable and tearable paper hex tiles. As puzzles are solved, players earn resources tied to the story and game progression. Each puzzle comes with three hint cards, ranging from subtle clues to full solutions.
