The game is based on the popular mini‑game Mini Cactpot from the MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV, which players can enjoy in the Manderville Gold Saucer casino complex. In this board game adaptation, players take on the role of casino visitors competing in a mix of luck, strategy, and bluffing to score the most points through well‑placed bets.
Each player is secretly dealt two numbers. The player who most recently visited the Gold Saucer in the video game starts by placing one number face up onto a 3×3 grid. Players then take turns placing numbers face up until half of the grid is filled. After that, numbers are placed face down in reverse turn order. The final number remains unrevealed and becomes the bonus number.
Players have three bets available to them.
They may bet on:
- Individual lines (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal), which score points if:
- the numbers form a sequence (e.g. 4–5–6),
- the sum equals 15,
- they contain special combinations (e.g. 1–2–3 or 7–8–9).
- The number of winning lines (e.g. 0–1, 2–3, 4+).
- The bonus number (guessing which number was left hidden).
Scoring:
- Points are awarded based on how successful the bets are.
- If multiple players bet on the same option, the player who placed the bet first receives more points.
If you’re looking for a light, fun game with a touch of video‑game nostalgia, Cactpot Party is an excellent choice—especially for fans of the Final Fantasy universe. 🎰
