Final Girl is a solo horror board game that puts you in the role of the last surviving heroine, the classic character archetype from slasher films such as Halloween, Friday the 13th, and Scream. The game is built around the idea that you must survive the night and defeat the killer before they murder all the victims... or you.
The Core Box is not a standalone game. Instead, it contains the core components required to play with any Feature Film box, each of which introduces a new killer, location, and two heroines (Final Girls) that can be mixed and matched as desired.
The game is played through five phases: the Action Phase, Planning Phase, Killer Phase, Panic Phase, and Upkeep Phase. You use action cards (such as movement, attack, and rest) that are activated by rolling special dice. These dice can result in successes, partial successes (which can be improved by sacrificing cards), or failures, creating a tense balance between luck and strategy.
Time is a crucial resource. It is spent on performing actions and purchasing new cards during the Planning Phase. The killer is controlled by an AI-driven system triggered through Terror Cards, creating unpredictable and often brutal events. When the Terror deck runs out, the Finale begins, making the killer even more powerful and deadly.
Every game feels like a miniature horror movie, complete with a beginning, a climax, and a bloody conclusion. Each combination of killer, location, and heroine creates a unique story and a fresh challenge.
If you're a fan of horror themes, solo gaming, and high-stakes decision-making, Final Girl: Core Box is the perfect entry into a world where you must survive the night... or die trying.
