Five Tribes is set in the fictional sultanate city of Naqala, inspired by elements of Arabian culture and mythology. Players take on the roles of influential figures competing for control over five tribes: Viziers, Elders, Merchants, Builders, and Assassins. Each tribe has its own unique ability that influences the flow of the game. The game also features Djinn—mystical beings that grant players special powers and additional points.
The game board consists of randomly arranged tiles, ensuring a varied experience every time you play. Players pick up a group of meeples from one tile and distribute them along a path, with the last meeple triggering an action based on its tribe. At the start of each round, players bid for turn order. Collecting cards, controlling tiles, and managing resources such as money and camels are key to victory. Djinn powers allow for extra actions and strategic advantages.
