Flamme Rouge is a board game that puts players in the middle of an exciting cycling race where tactics, timing, and energy management determine the winner.
The game is set in the world of professional cycling, specifically during the final kilometer of a race, as reflected in its name ("flamme rouge" is the red banner that marks the last kilometer in a road cycling race). Players control a team of two cyclists: the Rouleur (an all-round rider) and the Sprinteur (an explosive sprinter), competing for victory on a modular race track.
Each cyclist has their own deck of cards that determines how many spaces they will move. Players select one card for each cyclist, while the remaining cards are set aside. Cyclists move according to the chosen cards, with positioning determining who rides in front. If there is exactly one empty space between a cyclist and the rider ahead, the cyclist advances without spending additional energy, simulating the effects of drafting. Cyclists who ride alone at the front receive fatigue cards, which reduce their effectiveness in future rounds.
The rules are simple, yet the game offers a deep tactical experience. It is popular with both families and experienced gamers. 🚴♂️🎲
