In Fresco, you take on the role of a master painter in the Renaissance era, leading your team as you help restore a magnificent fresco in a cathedral. Players compete to become the best artist by choosing the right colors, managing resources wisely, and taking timely actions to earn the most points. The visual design of the game is wonderfully colorful and rich in theme—every element, from the game board to the paint cubes, draws you into a historical period where art comes to life.
Fresco features worker placement, color mixing, resource management, and commission mechanics. Each round begins with deciding what time you will wake up—getting up early gives you better access to colors at the market, but it makes your assistants unhappy. You then buy paints, mix them, and use them to restore the fresco. You can also send your apprentices to the theater to cheer them up. The game requires good planning, as you must balance the needs of your team, the market, the bishop’s demands, and the competition from other players.
