Friday is a solo board game designed by Friedemann Friese. It is a deck-building game in which the player takes on the role of Friday—the loyal companion of Robinson Crusoe—and helps him survive on a deserted island and prepare for the final battle against pirates.
The game is based on the story of the novel Robinson Crusoe, but with an interesting twist: you are Friday, teaching Robinson how to survive. At the beginning, Robinson is clumsy and weak, so throughout the game you must improve his “combat” deck in order to face the dangers of the island—and eventually the pirates.
You start with a basic deck of weak cards, which you gradually replace with stronger ones as you overcome hazards. Each round, you choose one of two dangers that Robinson will attempt to defeat. You have a limited number of life points, which you can spend for additional actions—but be careful, as you will need them for the final battle. The longer the game lasts, the more weak “aging” cards are added to your deck, increasing the difficulty. Once you defeat all the hazards, you must face the pirates—if you defeat them, you win the game.
