Gaia Project is a deep and strategic science‑fiction board game and the spiritual successor to the acclaimed Terra Mystica. It is designed for 1–4 players, who take on the roles of different space‑faring factions competing for dominance in the galaxy through exploration, terraforming, and technological advancement.
In a distant future, 14 unique factions inhabit 7 types of planets. Each faction can thrive only on one specific planet type, so players must terraform other planets to make them habitable. Throughout the game, players expand their influence across the galaxy, build structures, research new technologies, and strive to become the most advanced civilization in space.
Terraforming is a key mechanic that allows players to convert planets into suitable environments for their faction. There are six different technology tracks players can advance on (such as navigation, artificial intelligence, and economy). Every game features a different galaxy layout, which increases replayability. Each faction comes with unique abilities that shape the player’s strategy. Additionally, each round offers different scoring objectives, encouraging players to adapt their tactics.
