Hidden Leaders is a tense and fast-paced card game featuring elements of deduction, strategy, and hidden roles, set in the fantasy world of Oshra—an arena of political intrigue, alliances, and deception. The game was designed by Markus and Andreas Müller and Raphael Stocker, and features striking artwork by Satoshi Matsuura.
After the death of the King of Oshra, the kingdom is plunged into a struggle for power among four factions:
- Imperial Army (red)
- Mountain Tribes (green)
- Dead Wells (black)
- Blue Wells (blue)
Each player represents a hidden leader who is secretly loyal to two of these factions. Their goal is to subtly influence the course of the game so that one of their factions emerges victorious—without revealing their true allegiances.
Each player receives a leader card that determines which two factions they support. On the game board, there are two markers—one for the army and one for the tribes. By playing hero cards, players influence the positions of these markers. Heroes have a variety of effects: some move the markers, others affect opponents, or grant special abilities. Players try to deduce which factions others support while carefully concealing their own intentions. Once a set number of heroes have been played, the game ends. Based on the final positions of the markers, one faction wins—and the player who supported the winning side reveals their role.
If you enjoy a mix of fantasy, secret alliances, and strategic bluffing, Hidden Leaders is an excellent choice for an engaging evening around the table. 🕵️♂️🗡️🏞️
