Insider is a party game that blends trivia, social deduction, and bluffing into a fast-paced and tense experience for 4 to 8 players. The game was designed by Japanese designer Akihiro Ito and published by Oink Games.
Thematically, the game revolves around the question: Do we really have free will? Players work together to uncover a secret word known only to the moderator—but hidden among them is an Insider, who also knows the word and tries to subtly steer the group toward the correct answer without being exposed.
Players are assigned hidden roles: the moderator, the Insider, and ordinary citizens. The moderator selects the secret word, which the Insider secretly sees. Players then ask the moderator yes/no/maybe questions to deduce the word within a limited time. Once the word is guessed, the discussion begins—who is the Insider? Who helped a bit too much? Players vote on who they think the Insider is. If they identify the Insider correctly, the citizens win. If not, the Insider wins.
Insider is an excellent choice for anyone who enjoys games that require thinking, observation, and navigating social dynamics. 🕵️♂️
