Last Bastion is a cooperative fantasy game in which players take on the roles of heroes defending the ancient Bastion from relentless hordes of monsters led by the Baleful Queen. It is an epic last stand against chaos, filled with a sense of urgency, heroism, and teamwork.
Last Bastion combines several strong cooperative mechanisms.
Monsters appear on the four “Horde” boards and gradually accumulate until the heroes either stop their influence or destroy them. Some monsters have entrance, exit, or ongoing effects, creating a dynamic and lively battlefield.
Each round consists of a Horde phase (monster activation) and a Hero phase (movement, activating a Bastion tile, or combat). The system is clear, fast, and offers numerous tactical decisions.
Each of the eight heroes has a unique ability — for example, stronger attacks, dice manipulation, weakening enemies, or support skills. This gives the game a great amount of variety.
At the center are 9 Bastion tiles (the inn, the market, the divine fountain, the quarry, etc.), offering various powerful benefits such as healing, buffs, equipment, or special actions. Optimizing their use is essential for survival.
Victory is achieved only when you defeat the Warlord, the final leader of the hordes, who appears near the end of the game and represents the toughest challenge.
