In Lone Wolves, players take on the roles of leaders of rival wolf packs competing for dominance and the title of alpha wolf. Each player sends their wolves to different territories, where they clash for control. The winning wolf strengthens its position, while the losing one becomes a “lone wolf” that, despite defeat, gains experience (in the form of scar tokens), which can be beneficial in future rounds.
Each player has 13 wolf cards in five colors, representing different strengths. The game is played over 13 rounds, with both players choosing one card each round and playing it to one of five territories. The winning card remains in the territory, while the losing one becomes a “lone wolf” with a strength of 1. The losing player receives a scar token, which can modify card strength or affect territory scoring. The trump color can change during the game, adding another layer of strategy. The key to victory lies in timing: knowing when it’s worth winning and when it’s better to lose.
