Maximum Apocalypse: Wasted Wilds is a standalone cooperative adventure game for 1–4 players that expands on the original Maximum Apocalypse with new mechanics, campaigns, and thematic elements. It is effectively a 2.0 edition, blending a roguelike sense of exploration with tense survival gameplay in a post-apocalyptic world.
The game can be played on its own or combined with any other Maximum Apocalypse product, allowing play with up to 6 players.
The post-apocalyptic world has collapsed—nature has run wild, mutated plants and animals stalk the land, and tribal communities may become allies or enemies. Players take on the roles of survivors struggling to complete objectives, explore their surroundings, and survive dangers such as:
- Frostbite, Sunburn, Heat Stroke – environmental conditions directly affect characters’ health.
- Mutated monsters, wild animals, tribal warriors – each scenario introduces different threats.
- Trading or fighting with tribes – depending on the team’s relationship with them.
Players choose characters with unique decks and special abilities. Each mission features a distinct map, objectives, and set of enemies.
On a player’s turn, they:
- roll a die to determine monster spawns,
- advance time (day/night cycle, weather effects),
- perform up to four actions (movement, combat, card play, exploration).
The new Scavenge Deck system streamlines resource gathering through color-coded decks tailored to each mission.
