Mega Empires: The East is an expansive strategic board game that takes players on an epic journey through 8,000 years of Eastern civilization history. As a standalone game for 3 to 9 players (or up to 18 when combined with Mega Empires: The West), it allows players to guide their civilization from the Stone Age to the end of the Iron Age, focusing on territorial expansion, cultural and technological advancement, trade, diplomacy, and overcoming various disasters.
The game spans a vast region from the Euphrates and Tigris in the west to the Ganges River in the east, featuring civilizations such as the Babylonians, Persians, the Indus Valley culture, and the Nubians. Players develop their societies through arts, crafts, science, civic administration, and religion, while facing natural disasters like epidemics and earthquakes, as well as internal challenges such as slave revolts and pirate raids.
Players begin with a single population unit and gradually expand their territory, building cities that generate wealth and trade cards. At the heart of the game lies interactive trading, where players exchange cards that may contain valuable commodities—or hidden calamities. With accumulated wealth, players can acquire 51 different advances across five categories: arts, crafts, sciences, civic affairs, and religion. The game also includes additional rules and components for smaller 3–4 player sessions and can be combined with Mega Empires: The West for a larger player experience.
