Moytura is a strategic game for 1–2 players, inspired by Irish mythology. Players lead rival factions of the Tuatha Dé Danann as they struggle for dominance over ancient Ireland and compete for the title of High King. Along the way, they call upon powerful deities for aid while facing the threat of hostile Fomorians and other mythical creatures.
The core mechanism of the game is area control. Players spread their influence across various regions of Ireland, aiming to have greater influence than their opponent at the end of each era. A unique feature of the game is the presence of an automated third faction, made up of enemy clans that also expand across the map and compete for points.
Each round, players choose one of several deities and use its special abilities. Different gods provide advantages such as faster movement, influence expansion, combat strength, or other strategic benefits. Timing your actions carefully and monitoring the movements of the enemy clans are essential, as they can quickly disrupt even the best-laid plans.
The game includes multiple map setups and various enemy clans with unique abilities, greatly increasing replayability and ensuring that each session feels different. A solo mode is also included for players who prefer to play on their own.
