Mythic Mischief is a tactical, asymmetric board game set in a magical library where groups of mythical creatures try to avoid the strict librarian — the Tomekeeper — while at the same time getting each other into trouble.
The game takes place in a fantasy school library reminiscent of Hogwarts, where different factions — such as vampires, zombies, wizards, ghosts, monsters, witches, and goblins — compete for dominance. Each group has its own special abilities and unique ways of interacting with the environment, such as moving bookshelves, teleporting, creating obstacles, or manipulating opponents.
Every faction comes with distinct abilities that influence movement, interaction with rivals, and manipulation of the environment. Players use action dice to move their characters, activate abilities, and collect Tomes (books) that upgrade their powers.
The central mechanism of the game is guiding the Tomekeeper as he patrols the library. Players try to maneuver opponents into his path to score points.
The game features two phases: before lunch and after lunch — the latter unlocks additional abilities and shifts the game's overall dynamics.
