Nova Luna is an abstract board game for 1–4 players that combines tile placement, time management, and strategic goal planning. The game was designed by renowned board game creators Uwe Rosenberg and Corné van Moorsel.
Thematically, Nova Luna draws inspiration from the phases of the moon, symbolizing the constant cycle of setting and achieving goals. Rather than competing for points, players focus on completing objectives, creating a sense of progression and development that begins with the new moon.
Players choose from one of three tiles available in front of the moon marker and add it to their personal tableau. Each tile has a color and may contain 0–3 objectives, which can be completed by arranging neighboring tiles in specific ways. Every tile also carries a time value ranging from 1 to 7. The player furthest behind on the time track takes the next turn, making it possible to play multiple turns in a row by selecting lower-value tiles. Instead of accumulating points, the objective is to be the first player to complete 20 goals, giving the game a strong sense of efficiency and competition.
One of the most satisfying aspects of Nova Luna is completing several objectives with a single well-planned move. The feeling of creating the perfect tile placement and triggering multiple goal completions at once is immensely rewarding.
If you enjoy a combination of logical thinking, color-based pattern building, and strategic decision-making, Nova Luna is a wonderful addition to any board game collection. 🌙🧩
