Orléans: Big Box takes us back to medieval France, specifically to the city of Orléans and the Loire Valley, where we build influence by recruiting farmers, merchants, knights, monks, and scholars. Together, players compete in trade, construction, science, and regional control.
Each player builds a bag filled with different follower tokens and draws them to perform actions. These tokens represent various roles – farmer, merchant, monk, knight, etc. After drawing, players place them on action spaces and move across the Loire map. You advance on technology tracks, build trading posts, and collect points through end-game bonuses. The game includes events, contracts, and action selection along a structured timeline.
The Big Box contains the base game Orléans, expansions (Invasion, Trade & Intrigue, The Plague), all promo Place Tiles plus 3 new ones, premium components, an organizer insert, and additional scenarios.
The original edition was nominated for Kennerspiel des Jahres (2015) and won awards such as “Best Expert Game” and “Complex Game.”
