Orloj: The Prague Astronomical Clock is a strategic board game designed by Abraham Sánchez Hermida and Paloma J. Pascual, in which players take part in the construction of the famous Prague Astronomical Clock, Orloj, one of the most recognizable historical landmarks in Prague.
Players assume the roles of master builders competing to make the greatest contribution to the creation of the clock's renowned calendar and mechanism. Throughout the game, they assemble gears, zodiac symbols, astronomical spheres, and figures of the Apostles, gradually creating a magnificent medieval masterpiece.
Orloj is a more complex Euro-style game.
Players send their workers to perform various actions. The rondel, or circular action-selection system, is the game's central mechanism, rotating and changing the available options. Players manage resources such as wood, iron, gold, and ink. They build and collect elements that help complete the calendar and earn points. By advancing along development tracks, they improve their abilities and unlock additional benefits. They also build their own scoring engine (engine building) with the help of assistants, Apostles, and special cards.
