Pandoria, designed by Jeffrey D. Allers and Bernd Eisenstein, transports players to a fantasy world where five different peoples—elves, wizards, dwarves, halflings, and humans—compete for dominance in newly discovered lands. After a devastating goblin invasion, these races are forced to abandon their homelands and settle in an unknown territory called Pandoria, where they strive to build new kingdoms and earn as much glory as possible.
Pandoria is a strategic board game for 2 to 4 players, suitable for ages 10 and up, with an average playtime of 90 to 120 minutes.
Players place domino-like tiles made up of two hexes onto a shared game area, creating different regions such as forests, hills, mountains, and cities. After placing a tile, players may deploy their workers or leader onto the newly created area. When an area becomes fully surrounded by other terrain, it is considered closed, and players with workers adjacent to it gain corresponding resources: wood from forests, gold from hills, crystals from mountains, and glory points from cities.
Players also have access to cards, which can be used either as buildings (providing permanent effects) or as spells (powerful one-time effects). Constructing buildings requires wood, while casting spells consumes crystals. Players may store up to 10 units of each resource; any excess is converted into glory points, adding another layer of strategic planning.
The game also includes advanced rules with asymmetric abilities for each race, increasing both variety and replayability.
If you’re looking for a game that combines a strong fantasy theme with deep strategy and diverse mechanics, Pandoria is an excellent choice 🏰
