Players take on the roles of heroes defending the town of Falcon's Hollow and the entire region of Darkmoon Vale, where the undead are awakening and a new threat emerges from the volcano Droskar's Crag, endangering everyone living in the valley.

Pathfinder Quest is a cooperative game for one to four players in which everyone works together against the game itself to complete the campaign. Combat, exploration, and various challenges are resolved through a combination of cards, dice, and character abilities. Throughout the campaign, heroes grow stronger, gaining new equipment, abilities, and spells, while their choices can alter the course of the story and even determine its final outcome. The game does not require a Game Master, as events and surprises are guided by the Adventure Book and the Challenge Book.
