Positano is a board game set in a beautiful Italian seaside town, where the village is built on a steep cliff overlooking the sea. Players take on the roles of builders competing to construct colorful villas, resorts, and towers, striving to ensure that their buildings have the best possible view of the sea.
The theme is strongly intertwined with the visual presentation of the game – from pastel-colored houses to the 3D terraced game board that mimics the real cliffside architecture of Positano.

In each round, every player uses two bidding cards (a base card and an additional card) to bid in three categories:

• building location,
• number of floors,
• roof quality (bronze, silver, gold).

The bids are revealed simultaneously, creating tense anticipation as players try to predict their opponents' moves.

Based on the bid order, players draw tiles that determine:

• where they may build,
• how high they may build,
• what quality the new floor will have.

Positano uses a three-dimensional, tiered game board. Buildings must follow the height restrictions of each zone, yet players can strategically block the view of their opponents.
Points are awarded based on the quality of the building – but only if it has an unobstructed view of the sea. Players also collect gelato (special icons found on weaker cards), which grants additional points. Each game includes three random objective cards, encouraging different strategies in every playthrough.
