Total War is the first expansion for the second edition of Quartermaster General, offering players a wide range of new gameplay options without significantly increasing the overall playtime.
Among the most important additions is the introduction of Air Forces, which bring an entirely new dimension to the conflict. Air units allow players to defend Armies and Navies in the same area or to attack adjacent air units during combat.
Another key feature is the inclusion of new forces—Chinese and French units—which expand the initial setup and open up numerous new strategic possibilities. Additional tactical depth is introduced through Bolster cards, a new type of card that players can play directly from their hand as a reaction to ongoing gameplay.
Finally, the expansion adds alternative “what if” cards, representing historical strategies that were considered but never executed—such as Operation Sea Lion, the planned invasion of Great Britain.
Despite all these additions, the game remains easy to learn and quick to set up, while the new tactical options increase the fun and ensure even greater replayability.
