Samurai Sword is a card-based board game set in feudal Japan, where players take on secret roles (Shogun, Samurai, Ninja, or Ronin) and fight for honor, power, or personal glory.
The atmosphere of the game is based on the conflict between loyalty and betrayal: samurai protect their lord, ninjas scheme in the shadows, and the ronin acts independently and opportunistically.
The game is based on the well-known Bang! system, but with several important adjustments.
Players are divided into teams or play for themselves, but most roles remain hidden, creating deduction and bluffing. On their turn, players draw cards and use them for attacks, defense, or special effects. In this game, attacks and weapons are combined into the same cards, which speeds up gameplay and makes actions more direct. Each character has a certain number of “lives,” representing how much damage they can take. Instead of classic player elimination, the system rewards collecting honor points, so everyone stays in the game until the end. Since you don’t know who is on your side, you must observe other players’ actions and infer their intentions.
