Sand is a strategic euro game with a pick‑up‑and‑deliver mechanic, set in a post‑apocalyptic desert world where survivors strive to rebuild life by transporting plants and resources between crumbling cities.
The game takes place in a vast desert stretching from the Akaishi Mountains to the Seaclaw Cliffs. Players take on the roles of desert wanderers who travel on giant worms, transporting plants, relics, and other resources between settlements. These worms are not just means of transportation—they must be fed, hydrated, and kept healthy to perform their tasks effectively.
Players collect resources in one city and deliver them to another for profit. Each player controls their own worm, which they upgrade to improve efficiency and increase carrying capacity. On their personal board, players track three key parameters—water, food, and health. Each round, four colored dice are rolled to determine the available actions for all players. Players can hire helpers who provide bonuses and take on side quests for additional points. By delivering resources, players contribute to the restoration of cities, which influences the game’s dynamics.
The game lasts 5–6 rounds, each divided into morning, midday, and evening, requiring careful planning of actions. The winner is the player who has accumulated the most gold by the end of the game.
🏜️ Sand is a clever and thematically rich adventure game that blends resource management, delivery routes, and caring for giant worms in a tense race for survival and wealth.
