In this version, you don’t play as Sherlock Holmes but as a group of his young helpers—street children who aid him in solving complex cases in Victorian London. The game includes 10 brand-new cases designed by British Sherlock Holmes expert Dave Neale. These cases feature crimes, mysteries, deceptions, and unexpected twists, all set within the atmospheric backdrop of fog, gas lamps, and newspaper headlines.
This is a cooperative investigation and deduction game where players work together to solve each case. Every investigation begins with an introductory text, after which players:
- choose which locations in London to visit (using a map and directory),
- consult a dedicated issue of The Times for each case, which may contain crucial clues,
- interview suspects and witnesses through written entries in the casebook,
- track their progress using a new system that helps evaluate how close they are to solving the case.
Once they believe they have gathered enough information, players answer questions from the casebook and compare their results to Sherlock Holmes himself. If they outperform him (fewer leads followed, more points scored), they win!
