Shogun: Big Box is an epic strategic board game set during Japan’s Sengoku period (1467–1573), a time when powerful daimyo warlords fought for control over a fractured nation. This expanded edition of the classic Shogun includes the base game and four expansions: Tenno’s Court, Samurai, Military Leaders, and Chambers.

Players take on the roles of influential daimyo striving to expand their influence across feudal Japan. They build castles, temples, and theaters, collect taxes, recruit armies, and engage in bloody battles to control provinces — all with one goal: to become the next Shogun.

Players pre-program their actions for each province, requiring strategic foresight and anticipation of opponents’ moves. Victory hinges on controlling as many provinces and regions as possible. Battles are resolved using a unique cube tower combat system, where cubes representing armies are dropped into a tower and the outcome is determined by which cubes emerge — adding an exciting element of unpredictability. Each year, special events are revealed that affect all players, along with bonuses awarded based on regional control.
