Skull Queen is a board game with a pirate theme that puts players in the role of ship captains, ready to attack and hunt for treasure. Each player leads their crew of pirates and tries to position them as effectively as possible—but must be careful not to send them overboard into the sea.
The main mechanism is trick-taking, similar to classic card games:
- players play cards by suit and must follow suit if they can

- each player, at the start of a round, places their pirates on different spaces on a plank (each space provides a different number of points)
- winning or losing tricks moves pirates up or down the plank
- if a pirate falls off the plank into the sea, they score no points
Additional tension comes from:
- special cards (e.g., the highest 13 or the lowest 0)
- situations where movements are doubled or affect multiple players
