SPECTRE: The Board Game puts players in the roles of iconic villains from the James Bond films, such as Ernst Stavro Blofeld, Rosa Klebb, and Raoul Silva. Each player represents a member of the infamous organization SPECTRE (Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion), all striving to become number one in the criminal hierarchy. While competing against each other, players must occasionally cooperate on shared missions—but always with one eye on their rivals and the other on James Bond, who appears as a constant threat to their schemes.
This is an asymmetric worker placement game that also includes resource management, area control, secret objectives, and semi-cooperative missions. Each player has their own board with unique abilities and four schemes for world domination. In each round, players place their villains and henchmen on the world map or on their personal board to gain resources (gold, plans, intelligence), influence regions, and advance along the so-called SPECTRE track.
A special feature of the game is its secret plans, which players complete for additional points, as well as shared missions that require cooperation—but only to the extent that benefits each individual the most. James Bond, controlled by the game, appears randomly on the map, disrupting players’ plans, uncovering their secrets, and making progress more difficult.
