Star Trek: Super-Skill Pinball is a standalone version of the popular roll-and-write game that combines the classic arcade feel of pinball with the rich universe of Star Trek. The game was designed by Geoff Engelstein and published by WizKids.
The game is set in the Star Trek universe and includes four different pinball tables, each dedicated to a different part of the franchise:
- Starfleet Academy – an introductory table featuring the well-known Kobayashi Maru simulation.
- The Trouble with Tribbles – a table with a risk-based mechanic where tribbles quickly overrun the playfield.
- Lower Decks – a table with gravitational disturbances that physically flips during gameplay.
- Borg Attack – a complex table with two phases, in which players battle the Borg.
Each table is thematically rich and includes familiar characters, events, and mechanics inspired by Star Trek stories.
This is a roll-and-write game where:
- Players simultaneously roll two dice.
- They choose one value and move their pinball along the table.
- They record points on a special “backglass” sheet.
- When they lose the ball, they start a new round — the game ends after three lost balls.
Each table has its own special rules, goals, and bonuses. For example:
- Kobayashi Maru requires specific bonuses for maximum scoring.
- Tribbles multiply and generate points but also inflict penalties.
- The Borg table transforms into a tactical battle on the backglass during the final phase.
