Star Wars: Rebellion is an epic, large-scale strategy board game that places players at the center of the Galactic Civil War between the Empire and the Rebellion. The game was designed by Corey Konieczka and published by Fantasy Flight Games.
The setting is based on the original Star Wars trilogy. Players take on the role of either the Galactic Empire or the Rebel Alliance, with each side having completely different objectives:
- The Empire must locate and destroy the hidden Rebel base.
- The Rebels must carry out sabotage missions, spread influence, and survive long enough to spark a galaxy-wide uprising.
The game features over 150 miniatures, two large game boards covering 32 systems, and iconic characters such as Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, Darth Vader, Mon Mothma, Grand Moff Tarkin, and more.
It is an asymmetric strategy game in which each side operates with distinct mechanics:
- Each round consists of three phases: assignment, command, and refresh.
- Leaders are sent on secret missions or used to activate systems.
- Combat occurs both in space and on planets, using dice, tactical cards, and unit abilities.
- The Empire relies on overwhelming military strength (Star Destroyers, TIE Fighters, Death Star), while the Rebels focus on diplomacy, sabotage, and mobility.
Victory conditions:
- The Empire wins by finding and destroying the Rebel base.
- The Rebels win by increasing their reputation enough to trigger a full-scale uprising.
