Startups is a dynamic and compact economic card game designed by Jun Sasaki and published by Oink Games. It is intended for 3–7 players and takes about 20 minutes to play.
In Startups, players take on the roles of investors competing for control of six startup companies. Each company features a unique name and design, giving the game a colorful and playful atmosphere. The goal is to become the largest shareholder in selected companies and receive payments from other players who hold smaller stakes in those businesses.
Each player starts with 10 coins and three cards. Five cards are removed from the game before play begins, adding an element of uncertainty. Players take turns drawing and playing cards, constantly deciding whether to invest in a company themselves or leave the opportunity to others.
Special rules include:
- Anti-monopoly tokens: The player holding the most shares in a company can no longer take cards of that company from the market, although they may still play such cards from their hand.
- Payment system: Players who own shares in a company must pay the player with the largest stake in that company.
📈 If you enjoy a blend of economics, tactical decision-making, and social interaction, Startups offers a fast-paced, tense, and highly entertaining gaming experience.
