Sub Terra is a cooperative board game about survival in dark caves, where players take on the role of cave explorers trying to escape before their light goes out and they are caught by mysterious horrors lurking underground. The game is tense and has a strong survival-horror feel, with players sensing the presence of unknown dangers hiding in the darkness.
Players gradually uncover the cave system by moving and drawing random tiles, aiming to find the exit. Each player has 2 action points on their turn (e.g., move, explore, heal) and can risk an extra action by making a test, but failure results in injury. The game includes horror figures that move toward the nearest player after each turn. At the end of every round, hazard cards are drawn (floods, gas, cave-ins…), adding threats and blocking paths. Eight specialists (e.g., scout, engineer, geologist, medic) have unique abilities, such as avoiding horrors, setting explosives, or healing teammates.
Specialized roles encourage cooperation and planning, as players need each other’s support to survive.
Sub Terra, with its dark, uncertain cave passages and eerie lighting effects, creates a cooperative and thrilling experience—perfect for a game night packed with adrenaline. 🔦
