Tales from the Red Dragon Inn is a cooperative fantasy board game that takes players from the familiar Red Dragon Inn straight into action-packed dungeons filled with monsters, traps, and heroic tactics. It is a standalone game set in the same universe, known for its humorous interactions between adventurers after their quests—this time, however, it focuses on their actual adventures.
The game unfolds in a fantasy world where six heroes—each with their own unique abilities—embark on a campaign consisting of 25 scenarios divided into 5 chapters. The story begins with an explosion in the inn’s basement, setting off a chain of events driven by sinister plots that the heroes must stop.
A cooperative game for 1–4 players. Tactical battles take place on pre-printed maps, allowing for quick setup. Initiative is determined randomly by drawing from a bag, adding tension and unpredictability. Every attack hits—there are no missed rolls—so attacks always affect the enemy, keeping the pace dynamic and reducing frustration. Exploding dice (where critical hits grant additional rolls) and shared epic dice add strategic depth. A cooldown system for abilities requires careful timing of powerful moves. Adjustable difficulty levels allow the game to be tailored to the group. Character progression is shared—heroes improve regardless of who plays them, making it easy to switch characters between scenarios.
