Teotihuacan: City of Gods is a strategic board game that immerses players in the magnificent pre‑Columbian civilization of Mesoamerica, where they take on the roles of leaders building the mighty city of Teotihuacan and its central landmark—the Pyramid of the Sun.
The game is set in the ancient city of Teotihuacan, one of the largest urban centers in the Americas around 100 BCE. Players construct pyramids and houses, research technologies, and climb temple tracks to gain the favor of the gods. All of this unfolds across three eras (called Eclipses), representing the rise and decline of the civilization.
Players manage workers represented by dice, which grow stronger as they are upgraded throughout the game. Workers move along a circular action track (a rondel), where players choose actions or collect bonuses. They gather cacao, stone, gold, and wood to build the pyramid, construct houses, and develop technologies. After each Eclipse, players' progress is evaluated, including their ability to feed their workers.
The game offers medium‑to‑high complexity, making it especially appealing for fans of classic Euro‑style board games.
