Each round, players reveal worker cards that determine the available actions (such as gathering resources, construction, or military training). Players fill their personal boards with actions that affect several interconnected systems. Strengthening walls, towers, and fortifications grants protection and points.
Players must balance development with military readiness—undefended territories are vulnerable to attacks. Stone, wood, gold, and soldiers are essential for carrying out actions. Throughout the game, players build their reputation at the royal court (Courage, Loyalty, Influence) while also managing the discontent of their subjects.
At the end of the game, castles, military achievements, influence, objectives, and secret missions are all scored.
