The game takes you to 15th‑century Burgundy, where you assume the role of a noble striving to develop your duchy into a flourishing economy. You will construct mighty castles, settlements, farms, trade along rivers, exploit silver mines, and make use of the knowledge brought by traveling scholars. The theme is historical, with a strong sense of strategic development across a medieval landscape, giving the game a pleasant and immersive atmosphere.
Each player has their own duchy board, which they develop using hexagonal tiles (castles, livestock farms, ships, special buildings).
At the beginning of each turn, you roll two dice that determine which actions are available to you:
- Take a tile from the depot.
- Place a tile onto a matching space in your duchy.
- Sell goods for points.
- Take workers, which allow you to adjust your dice results.
