Ticket to Ride Map Collection: Volume 5 – United Kingdom and Pennsylvania is an expansion for Ticket to Ride and Ticket to Ride: Europe.
It offers two new maps, each with distinct rules and strategic approaches.
The United Kingdom side introduces the technology system to Ticket to Ride. At the start of the game, players can build only one‑ and two‑train routes, and only within England.
By spending locomotive cards (wild cards), players can unlock new technological abilities:
- building routes of three or more trains,
- building ferry connections,
- expanding railway networks into Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
Players can also purchase bonus cards, which provide extra points for performing certain actions during the game. The map is thematically set at the beginning of the railway era, which is why it covers the entire United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
The Pennsylvania side adds a stock market mechanic to the classic Ticket to Ride gameplay. Each time a player builds a route, they gain a share in one of the railway companies shown next to that route. At the end of the game, the player with the most shares in a given company earns point rewards.
This expansion introduces
innovative mechanics that enrich the core Ticket to Ride experience:
- The United Kingdom map focuses on technological upgrades, encouraging long‑term planning,
- while Pennsylvania adds an economic layer through its share system.
Together, these maps expand strategic depth and provide a refreshing new way to play, especially appealing to experienced players.
