Tides of Time is a two‑player, minimalist yet thematically rich game about the rise and fall of ancient civilizations.
Across three ages, players build their kingdoms by placing monuments, libraries, gardens, temples, and strongholds — representing the five different suits in the game.
Tides of Time is designed for 2 players, plays in 15–20 minutes, and is built on an elegant combination of card drafting and set collection.
The game is played over
three rounds, each following this structure:
- Both players receive 5 cards.
- Each player chooses one card and places it in their kingdom, then passes the remaining cards to the opponent.
- When all 5 cards have been played, scoring takes place.
- Players choose one card to keep permanently as a relic for the next rounds, and remove one card from the game, creating long‑term strategic depth.
Scoring is based on:- having the majority in specific suits,
- collecting sets of certain cards,
- fulfilling special scoring conditions printed on each card,
- synergies between cards within the kingdom.
Because all 18 cards are used in every game, randomness is extremely low, making the game highly tactical and strategic.
Tides of Time is a small, quick, and elegantly crafted tactical duel that captures the epic rise and fall of a civilization in just three rounds. 🏛️
